MASC/MAHS is an organization that provides high schools and middle level schools, advisors, and students with an opportunity to participate in leadership training and development to better themselves, their student councils and honor societies, and their schools.
New Advisor Workshop
This workshop is intended for advisors in their first three years. Mentorship opportunities as well as year planning and assistance in structuring your council will be discussed. This will be held in October at the Anderson Center on the Bethel campus.
Fall Leadership Forum
The Fall Leadership forum will be held at Cragun’s resort on November 3rd and 4th. During this two-day event, students and Advisors will hear keynote speakers, discuss ways to connect and involve others in their school community, and network with students from across the state.
Advisor Workshop
We are adding a one-day advisor training that will take place February 18th. During this time, advisors will attend breakout sessions led by professionals that are serving students in a variety of capacities.
One Day Leadership Training Events
Students will participate in a variety of one day leadership training sessions. These training events will occur throughout the school year and at various locations throughout the state.
State Leadership Convention
This year Hibbing High School will be hosting the state leadership convention April 4th-6th, 2025. A variety of activities will be included, but not limited to, breakout sessions, speakers, division meetings and election of state officers.
Middle Level Spring Workshops
We will be hosting workshops for our middle level student leaders in various locations across the state. These will be held throughout the year. Dates and location are to be determined. This is a low cost, one day workshop.
Summer Leadership Retreat
The Summer Leadership Retreat is held in July on the campus of St. John’s University. This event is a two-day leadership training for your students as they prepare for their school year. Students and advisors will be given assistance in planning their school calendar and events for the year. Students will set goals and create a framework for a year of excellence. Dates and location will be updated on the MASC-MAHS website.
National Conference
Students and advisors will be invited to attend a number of national conferences and workshops throughout the year. The National Association of Student Councils (NASC) and the National Honor Societies (NHS) Conference will take place January 31-February 2nd, 2025. Additional national conferences and workshops will be announced for both Students and Advisors throughout the year.

The MASC/MAHS Executive board produces a newsletter throughout the school year that keeps the students and advisors up to date with upcoming activities and ideas for your groups to use throughout the year at your school.
Scholarship and Awards
Scholarships and Awards are available for students whose schools are members of the Association. Recognition of the scholarship and award winners happen at the state leadership convention.
Leadership Articles/Resources
A resource of leadership articles and handouts will be made available to members on the website. These will provide best practice ideas, activities for your group, and handouts that were given at workshops/conferences.
Minnesota Honor Society (MHS)/Minnesota Junior Honor Society (MJrHS)
Your chapter is automatically part of MHS/MJrHS with membership to MAHS. Your chapter will have the opportunity to purchase pins, cards, certificates and honor cords.

One Day Leadership Training New!
This is a new event on January 12, 2024 in which students will work with various members of the Timberwolves and Lynx organizations. The students will participate in leadership training and will end the evening attending either a Lynx or Timberwolves game.
State Leadership Convention
This year Detroit Lakes will be hosting the state leadership convention April 12th-15th, 2024. A variety of activities will be included, but not limited to, breakout sessions, speakers, division meetings and election of state officers.

We will be hosting up to 4 workshops for our middle level student leaders in various locations across the state. These will be held in May. Dates and location are to be determined. This is a low cost, one day workshop.

National Conference
Students and advisors will be invited to attend a national conference each summer at the end of June. For the last two years the Minnesota delegation has traveled together, created great memories and returned with impactful information to be used in their schools. The 2024 location and dates follow: Vision Conference, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, June 21-23

Mentorship Monday Meetups New!
Advisors in their first years of being a part of their student activity will have the opportunity to meet with the Coordinator of Student Activities and veteran advisors virtually on Mondays throughout the year.

Held during the last week in June, Minnesota traditionally had one of the largest and loudest delegations.
